Food Service Worker

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Incumbent will perform various tasks in connection with the preparation of a limited variety of fast foods. Involving the operation of a grill, microwave oven, deep fryer, rotisserie and steamers, as well as preparation of salads, cold sandwiches, chicken, fish, pizza, etc. Makes coffee according to number of servings desired and in accordance with established procedures for timing and brewing. Serves customers at counter; receives orders and serves food and beverages in accordance with prescribed portions. Arranges salads, desserts, cold beverages, etc., stocks condiment stands, self service milk and ice cream cabinets, and hot and cold drink dispensers. Replenishes stock as necessary. Advises supervisor when stock is low. May be required to remove soiled dishes from tables and carry to kitchen. Washes, sterilizes and dries flatware, glassware, dishes and cooking utensils by hand or by machine. Cleans, scrubs, wipes and/or washes tables, counters and other service equipment such as worktable, refrigerators, freezers, and service equipment. Sweeps and mops floor. Operates a cash register, computes change and collects according to cash handling procedures. Will be responsible for change fund. Completes Daily Activity Reports and ensures proper deposit of cash receipts to established procedures. May open and/or close facility, ensuring compliance with established procedures. Assists in taking inventory at required intervals. Responsible for complying with all safety, fire and sanitation rules and regulations. Performs housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces. Exercises tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting patrons. Performs other related duties as assigned.   

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must have six (6) months food service experience. Must have knowledge and ability to follow simple recipes and preparation of a variety of food items.  Knowledge of food handling techniques and portion controls. Knowledge of simple cooking equipment, utensils and personal hygiene standards. Cash handling experience preferred, with knowledge of basic arithmetic. Knowledge of sanitation requirements. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with others. Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. This position requires irregular working hours to include nights, weekends and holidays.  Must meet minimum age requirement to serve alcohol.
