Naval Base San Diego Makes History, Celebrating 100 Years in San Diego

About a century ago, San Diego was a small border town with a population of 75,000. Today, its economy is booming with tourism, international trade, manufacturing, and research—and at the center of it all is the strong presence of the U.S. military. The city's landmark installation, now home to the nation's largest military population, celebrated its centennial anniversary this year.

Naval Base San Diego will celebrate its landmark, 100-year anniversary, by hosting a week-long series of special events, including a golf tournament at Admiral Baker Golf Course, a ship tour aboard the Naval Station, a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation 5K, and a gala ceremony and concert.
