Winter rains at Cabrillo National Monument have brought much needed moisture to the beautiful coastal sage plant community on Point Loma. Unfortunately, heavy rains are also benefiting invasive plants or weeds. Weed Warriors is a dedicated group of volunteers who are helping to remove invasive non-native plants from native habitat at Cabrillo National Monument. The removal of invasive plants helps with native habitat restoration and preservation of ecosystems here at the park. More volunteers are needed to help win the battle and protect native plants. This work involves bending and stooping in native habitat. Knowledge of native and invasive plants is helpful but not necessary. Training in plant identification and proper removal techniques will be provided.
