Special Events

• Ship tours are FREE.
• IDs are required to access the pier for ship tours. All adult visitors (ages 18+) must show a valid U.S. FEDERAL or STATE issued ID or passport.
• Visitors under 18 shall be accompanied by a properly identified adult. Adults with young children must use extreme caution when transiting the ship during tours.
• All visitors and their bags will be inspected before entering the pier enclave.
• U.S. Navy ships are NOT ADA compliant.
• Photography is at the discretion of the ship.
• Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended.
• NO pets (including ADA dogs) are authorized on the ships.
• You will enter multiple security-controlled areas during your visit.

Getting to The Event

How do I get to the event?
All public guests must access the base via Gate 9 at 8th St. And Harbor Dr. in National City.

How do I get to Gate 9?

• From 5 South: take the 8th St. Exit and prepare to turn left. Follow 8th St. until it ends at Gate 9.
• From 5 North: take the Harbor Dr. Exit and continue straight. Prepare to turn left into Gate 9 at 8th St.

Prohibited Items

• NO pets (Exceptions: American with Disabilitues Act (ADA) service dogs will be allowed onto the installation but will not be allowed on the pier)
• NO Glass Containers. 
• NO Large Ice Chests and Coolers 
• NO Pop-Up Tents 
• NO weapons of any kind (regardless of permit) including: firearms, knives, replica or toy weapons, clubs, stun guns, or anything that ejects a projectile, Mace, Pepper Spray, spray cans or other defensive or chemicals 
• NO Fireworks or explosives of any kind 
• NO Flammable Liquids 
• NO Marijuana/illegal drugs and/or paraphernalia 
• NO Drones/Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) 
• NO Club Weapons
• NO Two-way radios and scanners 
• NO Bullhorns, flags (excluding U.S), spray paint or demonstration material/equipment 
• NO Gang related clothing/accessories 
• NO Laser Pointers 
• NO Propaganda/Political posters, flags or signs displaying personal political views. 
• NO skateboard/ bicycles / hover boards
• NO Food or beverages with the exception of baby food or formula outside the designated area
• NO large backpacks or other large bags, oversized camera bags, or large purses larger than 7 inches by 10 inches ( Special consideration will be given to diaper bags, strollers, etc. that accompany small children)
   

Food, Beverages, and Lunch Area 

• Designated lunch area is located adjacent to the grass field.  
• Food Trucks will be on site for food and beverage for purchases with credit/debit cards and cash. 
• Naval Base San Diego’s Welldeck is available for food and drink purchases but only accepts credit/debit cards. NO CASH IS ACCEPTED AT WELLDECK.
   

Ship Tours

• Ships tours are FREE 
• Ship tours are approximately 1 hour in length. 
• Each ship will have their own que lines designated at each ship’s brow.
• Ship tours will include climbing up/down steep inclines, steep ladders, narrow passageways and stepping through doorways with doorframes that are not floor length.
• Visitors must show a valid U.S. FEDERAL or STATE issued identification or passport. 
• Ship Tours will consist of several locations within and outside of the ship. Tour stops on ships have limited space
• All visitors and their baggage might be inspected before entering the pier enclave. 
• U.S. Navy ships are NOT ADA compliant. 
• Photography is at the discretion of the ship. 
• Closed-toe shoes, pants and shorts are recommended. NO dresses, skirts, and heels. 
• NO pets (including ADA dogs) are authorized on the ships. 
• There are multiple security-controlled areas you will enter during your visit. 
• If a visitor is injured while on board, please bring any injuries to the attention of any ship’s crewmember, as we need to ensure proper medical care is provided promptly.
