About School Liaison

The School Liaison Program supports military-connected students and families by helping them navigate school transitions during PCS moves. With many military children relocating up to nine times between PreK–12th grade, School Liaisons work to ensure continuity in education, smooth enrollment, and access to accurate information about local school options.

School Liaisons serve as the primary link between parents, educators, and command leadership, helping families understand regional public and private school systems, home-school requirements, and alternative education pathways. They also provide guidance on special education processes and connect families with essential resources across the installation and community.

Families can access information on programs such as Fleet and Family Support Programs (FFSP), the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), Child and Youth Programs (CYP), and partner organizations including the Armed Services YMCA, Military Family Collaborative, and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. School Liaisons are also subject-matter experts on education policies such as the Interstate Compact for Military Children, Department of Education guidelines, and local school district procedures.

See Core Services below for specific areas of support.
