Career Services & TAP
Employment Readiness and Transition Assistance programs support Sailors and family members in finding meaningful employment and preparing for civilian career success. Patrons can meet one-on-one with a Work and Family Life Consultant (WFLC) or participate in workshops designed to build job-search confidence and career readiness.
Services include assistance with job searches, career planning, résumé writing, interview preparation, federal employment guidance, self-assessments, goal setting, and vocational testing.
Workshops
FFSC workshops provide practical skills and tools for career development. Topics include:
- Finding Federal Employment
- Winning Interview Techniques
- Owning Your Own Business
- Résumé Writing
Military Spouse Employment Support
Military spouses now have expanded access to federal job opportunities under a new OPM hiring policy. Agencies may appoint eligible spouses to temporary, term, or permanent civil service positions. To qualify, spouses must be currently married to an active-duty or injured service member at the time of appointment.
Additional details are available through Federal News Network and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) policy download.
Transition Assistance Program (TAP)
TAP prepares Sailors and family members for a successful transition to civilian life. The program helps service members separate “career ready” with job-search strategies, employment resources, and information on veterans benefits.
TAP workshops are required for all separating service members and are scheduled through the Command Career Counselor. Orders are required to attend. Workshop schedules are available in the download section of this page.
